About

Hi! I’m a painter and animation artist based in Los Angeles, with a love for creating environments and capturing the character of a place.

I’ve spent much of my career working professionally in animation and currently paint backgrounds for the Amazon series Invincible at Skybound Animation. I’m also a member of The Animation Guild, Local 839. My experience includes serving as lead background designer and painter for The Late Show at CBS, along with visual development and background work on projects at Titmouse, Nickelodeon, Netflix, Cartuna, King, and Keyframe Digital.

Originally from Buffalo, NY, I studied 2D and 3D animation in Toronto before spending a decade in New York City. I now live in Los Angeles with my wife, Kate, a middle school science teacher. We share a love of art and education and the ways both can enrich our lives and the lives of those around us.

Outside of animation, I love painting outdoors, both traditionally and digitally. I’m drawn to light, color, atmosphere, and the shapes that make a landscape or everyday scene feel unique. Plein air painting gives me the opportunity to work directly from life and continually influences the way I approach composition, color, light, and environment in my professional work.

Whether I’m painting outdoors or creating an environment for animation, I’m interested in finding the qualities that give a place its particular mood and character.

Thank you for checking out my portfolio! Please feel free to reach out with any questions or work opportunities.
